Cape Charles Christian School

Experience the Joy of Learning!

Trusting in God's guidance, the mission of the Cape Charles Christian School is to educate and develop the whole child in a non-denominational setting.

Located within the town of Cape Charles, our community school educates and inspires children Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 by offering multi-aged classrooms and a curriculum designed to fit the needs of each child. This curriculum, together with our creative environment, is structured to develop each child's mind, body, spirit and sense of community.

At CCCS our students are happy, curious and confident and our teachers love to teach.

Curriculum

Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed by our teachers and our head of school who have the combined experiences of educating in both private and public settings. They rely on progressive educational strategies to develop collaborative programs which are rigorous, yet flexible.

Our multi-age classrooms place Kindergarten and grade 1 together, grades 2 and 3 together, Grades 4 and 5 together and grades 6, 7 and 8 together. Pre-Kindergarten is open to 3 and 4 year old children. Our multi-age classrooms enable students and teachers spend two years together and serves the academic needs of both slower and faster learners. Research indicates that this approach provides greater opportunity for leadership and results in more positive attitudes towards school.

Pre-Kindergarten

Pre-Kindergarten is open to 3 and 4 year old children. It serves as a transition time between home and school, providing an opportunity for adjustment to group situations and the introduction to academic and social concepts. Students development language and math readiness, gross and fine motor coordination and social skills, as well as the ability to develop problem solving strategies and gain independence.

Elementary School

Our school climate provides a strong foundation, which cultivates a love of learning. Elementary school students benefit from phonics and literature based reading instruction as well as concrete math manipulatives. Hands-on problem-based activities drive instruction as students explore science and social studies, helping them develop an understanding of our past, as well as preparing them for the future.

Middle School

Experiences inside and outside of the classroom guide our middle school students in building self-confidence, self-discipline, a positive work ethic and a personal sense of identity. The Common Core Standards guide instruction in the areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. We emphasize problem-based learning and students are presented with numerous opportunities to make choices regarding their study within the curriculum.
